Description

Cajun Blackened Chicken is a flavorful and spicy dish made with bold Cajun seasoning and seared in a hot skillet to create a smoky, blackened crust on tender, juicy chicken breasts.


Ingredients

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Lemon wedges, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix together the paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, thyme, oregano, cayenne pepper, black pepper, and salt to make the Cajun seasoning.
  2. Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. Brush both sides with olive oil or melted butter.
  3. Generously coat both sides of the chicken breasts with the Cajun seasoning blend.
  4. Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat until very hot, about 5 minutes.
  5. Place the chicken breasts in the hot skillet and cook for 5–6 minutes per side, or until blackened and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  6. Remove from the skillet and let rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
  7. Serve with lemon wedges if desired.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the chicken in the seasoning for 30 minutes before cooking.
  • Can also be grilled instead of pan-seared.
  • Serve with rice, salad, or roasted vegetables for a complete meal.
