Description

A decadent trifle featuring layers of fudgy brownies, fresh strawberries, vanilla pudding, and whipped topping, creating a harmonious blend of textures and flavors.

Ingredients

Units Scale

  • 1 box brownie mix (plus ingredients required on the package)
  • 2 (3.4 oz) packages instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 4 cups cold milk
  • 1 (16 oz) container whipped topping (e.g., Cool Whip), thawed
  • 2 pounds fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • Optional garnish: additional whole strawberries or chocolate shavings

Instructions

  • Prepare the Brownies:
    • Bake the brownies according to the package instructions in a 9×13-inch pan.
    • Allow them to cool completely, then cut into 1-inch squares.
  • Prepare the Pudding:
    • In a large bowl, whisk together the instant vanilla pudding mixes and cold milk until smooth and thickened.
    • Gently fold in half of the whipped topping to create a lighter pudding mixture.
  • Assemble the Trifle:
    • In a large trifle dish or glass bowl, layer half of the brownie squares at the bottom.
    • Add a layer of sliced strawberries over the brownies.
    • Pour half of the pudding mixture over the strawberries, spreading it evenly.
    • Repeat the layers with the remaining brownies, strawberries, and pudding mixture.
    • Top with the remaining whipped topping, spreading it smoothly over the final pudding layer.
  • Chill and Serve:
    • Cover the trifle and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to meld.
    • Before serving, garnish with additional whole strawberries or chocolate shavings if desired.

Notes

  • Variations: For a chocolate twist, use chocolate pudding instead of vanilla.
  • Make-Ahead: This trifle can be prepared a day in advance; keep it refrigerated until ready to serve.
  • Portions: For individual servings, assemble the trifle in mini dessert cups or mason jars.
