Description

A savory and flavorful homemade breakfast sausage made with ground pork and a blend of herbs and spices, perfect for morning meals.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar (optional for sweetness)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine all the ingredients.
  2. Mix thoroughly with your hands or a spoon until the spices are evenly distributed throughout the pork.
  3. Form into small patties, about 2–3 inches in diameter.
  4. Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the patties for 3–4 minutes per side, or until fully cooked and browned.
  5. Drain on paper towels and serve warm.

Notes

  • You can prepare the sausage mixture the night before and refrigerate for enhanced flavor.
  • For a leaner version, substitute part or all of the ground pork with ground turkey.
  • Leftover cooked patties can be frozen and reheated for quick breakfasts.
