Description

This Braided Apple Puff Pastry is a beautiful and easy dessert filled with tender cinnamon apples wrapped in flaky, golden pastry. Perfect for fall gatherings, holidays, or a sweet brunch treat.

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 2 apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon coarse sugar (optional, for topping)
  • Optional: powdered sugar or icing for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, combine apple slices with brown sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and flour. Mix well and set aside.
  3. Roll out puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Transfer to prepared baking sheet.
  4. Place apple mixture down the center third of the pastry, leaving space on the edges.
  5. Make diagonal cuts on both outer thirds of the pastry, about 1 inch apart.
  6. Fold the strips over the filling, alternating sides to create a braid pattern. Tuck the ends underneath.
  7. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sugar if using.
  8. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until pastry is golden brown and puffed.
  9. Let cool slightly before slicing. Drizzle with icing or dust with powdered sugar if desired.
