Description

Bowtie Pasta, also known as farfalle, is a versatile and family-friendly pasta dish that can be served with a variety of sauces or mix-ins. This version features a creamy garlic Parmesan sauce with vegetables, making it a satisfying main or side.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 12 oz bowtie (farfalle) pasta
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook bowtie pasta according to package directions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup pasta water, then drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add garlic and onion and sauté until fragrant and translucent, about 3–4 minutes.
  3. Add cherry tomatoes and broccoli. Cook for 4–5 minutes, until vegetables begin to soften.
  4. Reduce heat to low and stir in cream, Parmesan cheese, and red pepper flakes. Stir until cheese is melted and sauce is smooth.
  5. Add cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to coat, adding reserved pasta water as needed to loosen the sauce.
  6. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Garnish with fresh herbs before serving.

Notes

  • Add grilled chicken, shrimp, or sausage for extra protein.
  • Substitute other vegetables like spinach or zucchini as desired.
  • Use half-and-half instead of cream for a lighter version.
