Description

Boursin cheese is a creamy, garlicky, and herb-packed spreadable cheese that’s perfect for crackers, vegetables, sandwiches, or as a stuffing for chicken and mushrooms. This easy homemade version tastes just like the store-bought version but is fresh, customizable, and budget-friendly!

Ingredients

Units Scale

Base:

  • 8 oz (1 block) cream cheese, softened
  • 4 tbsp (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream (for extra creaminess, optional)

Flavoring (Garlic & Herb Mix):

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced or grated
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • 1 tsp dried chives
  • 1 tsp dried dill
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

1. Mix the Base:

  • In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese, butter, and heavy cream until smooth and fluffy (about 1-2 minutes).

2. Add the Herbs & Garlic:

  • Stir in minced garlic, parsley, chives, dill, thyme, oregano, onion powder, black pepper, and salt.
  • Mix well until everything is evenly combined.

3. Let the Flavors Develop:

  • Transfer the cheese mixture to a small container or wrap in plastic wrap.
  • Refrigerate for at least 2 hours (or overnight) to allow the flavors to meld.

4. Serve & Enjoy!

  • Bring to room temperature before serving for the creamiest texture.
  • Enjoy with crackers, fresh bread, veggies, or as a spread!

Notes

  • Customize the flavor! Swap in fresh herbs (use 3x the amount of dried herbs) or add red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
  • For a stronger garlic flavor, roast the garlic first for a milder, sweeter taste.
  • Make it ahead! Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
