Description

This vibrant, tangy, and slightly sweet drink combines juicy blueberries with zesty lime for a refreshing twist. Perfect as a non-alcoholic mocktail or upgraded into a cocktail, it’s a fantastic choice for any occasion.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup (150 g) fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) fresh lime juice (about 2 limes)
  • 2 tbsp (30 g) granulated sugar or honey (adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) sparkling water or soda
  • Ice cubes
  • Lime slices and extra blueberries, for garnish

Optional:

  • 1 oz (30 ml) vodka, gin, or white rum per serving for a cocktail version
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish

Instructions

1. Make the Blueberry Base:

  • In a small saucepan, combine the blueberries, lime juice, and sugar. Heat over medium heat for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the blueberries burst and the mixture becomes syrupy.
  • Remove from heat and let cool. Strain through a fine mesh sieve to remove skins if you prefer a smoother drink.

2. Assemble the Twister:

  • Fill a glass with ice cubes. Add about 2-3 tablespoons of the blueberry-lime syrup to the glass (adjust to taste).
  • Pour sparkling water or soda over the syrup and stir gently to combine.

3. Garnish and Serve:

  • Garnish with lime slices, fresh blueberries, and mint leaves if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy the refreshing twist!

Notes

  • For a sweeter drink, increase the sugar or honey in the blueberry base.
  • This recipe makes enough syrup for 2-3 drinks. Double or triple the recipe for a crowd.
  • Leftover syrup can be stored in the fridge for up to 1 week and used in other drinks or as a topping for desserts like pancakes or ice cream.
