Description

This Blue Cheese Dressing is rich, tangy, and packed with bold flavors! Perfect for salads, dipping buffalo wings, or drizzling over burgers, this homemade version is creamy, chunky, and easy to whip up in under 10 minutes. Once you try it, you’ll never go back to the store-bought kind!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1/2 cup (120 g) mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup (120 g) sour cream (or plain Greek yogurt for a lighter version)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) buttermilk (or regular milk for a thinner consistency)
  • 1/3 cup (75 g) crumbled blue cheese (plus extra for garnish)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (or white vinegar)
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (optional for extra depth)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh chives or parsley, chopped (optional for garnish)

Instructions

1. Mix the base:

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sour cream, and buttermilk until smooth and creamy.

2. Add the flavor:

  • Stir in lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce (if using), garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.

3. Fold in the blue cheese:

  • Gently fold in the crumbled blue cheese.
  • For a smoother dressing, mash some of the blue cheese into the dressing base; for chunkier dressing, leave larger pieces intact.

4. Chill and serve:

  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors develop.
  • Stir before serving and adjust seasoning if needed.

5. Garnish:

  • Sprinkle with extra crumbled blue cheese or fresh herbs like parsley or chives before serving.

Notes

  • Use high-quality blue cheese (like Roquefort, Gorgonzola, or Stilton) for the best flavor.
  • Thin out the dressing with extra buttermilk if needed for drizzling consistency.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
