Description

Black Pepper Chicken with Mushrooms is a flavorful, quick sauté dish featuring tender chicken breasts, earthy mushrooms, and a creamy peppery sauce—perfect for a comforting dinner.


Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1 3/4 lb)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp freshly cracked black pepper
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 8 oz cremini or button mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream or half-and-half
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 Tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 Tbsp chopped fresh parsley (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Season chicken with salt and black pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear chicken for 4–5 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add mushrooms and cook for 4–5 minutes until browned. Add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds.
  4. Pour in chicken broth and scrape up any browned bits from the pan.
  5. Stir in heavy cream and Dijon mustard. Simmer for 2–3 minutes to thicken slightly.
  6. Add butter and return chicken to the skillet, spooning sauce over the top. Cook for 1–2 more minutes to combine flavors.
  7. Garnish with parsley and serve hot over pasta, rice, or mashed potatoes.
