Description

These Black Forest Cookie Dough Brownie Bombs feature layers of rich brownie, sweet cookie dough, and maraschino cherries, coated in a smooth chocolate shell. With a hint of cherry and loads of chocolate, they’re the ultimate indulgent dessert.

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Brownie Layer:

  • 1 box of brownie mix (or homemade brownies), baked and cooled
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips (optional, for extra chocolatey flavor)

For the Cookie Dough Filling:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour, heat-treated for safety
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp milk (or more, as needed)
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup maraschino cherries, chopped and patted dry

For Coating:

  • 12 oz semi-sweet chocolate or chocolate chips, melted
  • Optional garnish: extra chopped cherries or chocolate shavings

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cookie Dough Filling:
    • In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
    • Add the vanilla extract, flour, and milk, mixing until a soft dough forms. Fold in the mini chocolate chips and chopped maraschino cherries.
    • Roll the cookie dough into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet and freeze for 15-20 minutes to firm up.
  2. Assemble the Brownie Bombs:
    • Cut the cooled brownies into small squares, about 2 inches in size.
    • Flatten a brownie square slightly and wrap it around each frozen cookie dough ball, pressing to seal and shape into a smooth ball.
  3. Chill and Coat in Chocolate:
    • Freeze the assembled brownie bombs for an additional 10-15 minutes to make them easier to dip.
    • Melt the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second increments until smooth.
    • Using a fork, dip each brownie bomb into the melted chocolate, allowing excess chocolate to drip off before placing it on a parchment-lined tray.
  4. Decorate and Serve:
    • While the chocolate is still wet, garnish with extra chopped cherries or chocolate shavings if desired. Let the chocolate set completely in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Storage: Store brownie bombs in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. For longer storage, freeze and thaw in the fridge before serving.
  • Alternative Flavor: Add a few drops of cherry extract to the chocolate coating for an intensified cherry flavor.
