Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Sloppy Joe Filling:

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup dill pickle relish
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Big Mac Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 2 tbsp sweet pickle relish
  • 1 tsp white vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp paprika

For Serving:

  • 4 sesame seed hamburger buns
  • 1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
  • 4 slices of cheddar or American cheese
  • Dill pickle slices (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Big Mac Sauce:

    • In a small bowl, mix the mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, sweet pickle relish, vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. Stir well until smooth. Set aside for later.
  2. Cook the Sloppy Joe Filling:

    • Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and diced onion. Cook until the beef is browned and the onion is soft, about 5–7 minutes. Drain any excess grease.
    • Stir in the ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, dill pickle relish, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 3–5 minutes, allowing the flavors to combine.
  3. Assemble the Sloppy Joes:

    • Lightly toast the sesame seed buns. Spread a spoonful of Big Mac sauce on the bottom half of each bun.
    • Place a layer of shredded lettuce on the sauce, followed by a slice of cheese.
    • Spoon the beef mixture generously onto the cheese. Top with pickle slices (if using) and another dollop of sauce. Place the top bun on and press gently.
  4. Serve:

    • Serve the Big Mac Sloppy Joes immediately with fries or a side salad.

Notes

  • You can make the sauce in advance and store it in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
  • For a lower-carb option, serve the sloppy joe filling in lettuce wraps instead of buns.
