Description

These Better Than a Boyfriend Brownies are rich, fudgy, and loaded with chocolatey goodness—better than any store-bought brownies (or a boyfriend)! With a crackly top, gooey center, and intense chocolate flavor, this indulgent treat is perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth.

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Brownies:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips (or chopped dark chocolate)

For Extra Indulgence (Optional):

  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce (for drizzling)
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
  • 1/2 cup mini marshmallows
  • A sprinkle of sea salt for garnish

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat & Prepare the Pan

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×9-inch baking pan and line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

Step 2: Make the Brownie Batter

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  2. Add eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until fully combined.
  3. Sift in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder, stirring until just combined.
  4. Fold in chocolate chips (and nuts or marshmallows, if using).

Step 3: Bake the Brownies

  1. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  2. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs (do not overbake).

Step 4: Cool & Serve

  1. Let brownies cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing.
  2. Drizzle with caramel sauce and sprinkle with sea salt for extra decadence.

Notes

  • For Extra Gooey Brownies: Use ½ cup less flour and bake for 5 minutes less.
  • For a More Cake-Like Texture: Add an extra egg.
  • Storage: Keep in an airtight container for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
  • Serving Suggestion: Warm in the microwave and top with vanilla ice cream!
