- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped almonds or pecans
Instructions
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat and set aside.
- In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine butter, sugar, and salt over medium heat.
- Stir constantly until the mixture reaches 300°F (hard crack stage) on a candy thermometer, about 10–15 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract quickly.
- Immediately pour the hot toffee onto the prepared baking sheet and spread evenly.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot toffee and let sit for a minute until melted.
- Spread the melted chocolate evenly over the toffee.
- Sprinkle chopped nuts on top and press lightly to adhere.
- Allow to cool completely at room temperature or refrigerate until set.
- Break into pieces and store in an airtight container.
