Ingredients
Units
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
- Salt and fresh‑cracked pepper, to taste
- 4 slices cheddar or American cheese
- 4 brioche burger buns
- 2 Tbsp unsalted butter, softened (for toasting buns)
- Your favorite toppings: lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles
- Condiments: ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise
Instructions
- Preheat a grill or skillet over medium‑high heat.
- Divide beef into four equal portions; gently form into patties about ¾‑inch thick and slightly larger than your buns. Season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
- Cook patties on the preheated surface for about 3–4 minutes per side, flipping once. For cheese, add a slice during the last minute of cooking and cover to melt.
- Meanwhile, spread softened butter on cut sides of buns. Toast buns on the grill or skillet, butter-side down, until golden‑brown.
- Assemble burgers: bottom bun, patty with melted cheese, lettuce, tomato slices, onion, pickles, and condiments of choice; top bun.
- Serve immediately with fries, chips, or salad.
Notes
- Do not overwork the meat when forming patties—gentle shaping keeps burgers tender.
- Use an 80/20 beef blend for optimal juiciness.
- Press a shallow dent in the center of each patty to help them cook flat.
- Let cooked patties rest 2–3 minutes off heat before serving to retain juices.
- Customize toppings—try bacon, avocado, sautéed mushrooms, or a fried egg for variety.
