Description

A hearty and comforting beef noodle casserole made with ground beef, egg noodles, and a savory tomato-based sauce, topped with melted cheese.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 8 oz egg noodles
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, drained
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook egg noodles according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and garlic and sauté until softened.
  4. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
  5. Stir in tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and mix in sour cream.
  7. Combine cooked noodles with the beef mixture.
  8. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish and top with shredded cheddar cheese.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Use lean ground beef to reduce grease.
  • Can be made ahead and refrigerated before baking.
  • Top with chopped parsley for added freshness.
