For the sauce:
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) water
- 1 teaspoon sugar
For the stir-fry:
- 8 oz (225 g) lo mein noodles or spaghetti, cooked and drained
- 1 lb (450 g) beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon minced ginger
- 1 cup (100 g) sliced carrots
- 1 cup (100 g) broccoli florets
- 1/2 cup (50 g) sliced bell peppers (any color)
- 1/2 cup (50 g) sliced green onions
Instructions
1. Make the sauce
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, water, and sugar. Set aside.
2. Prepare the noodles
- Cook the lo mein noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
3. Cook the beef
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add the sliced beef and stir-fry for 2–3 minutes, or until browned. Remove the beef and set aside.
4. Stir-fry the vegetables
- Add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil to the skillet.
- Add the garlic, ginger, carrots, broccoli, and bell peppers. Stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
5. Combine everything
- Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the vegetables.
- Add the cooked noodles and pour the prepared sauce over the mixture. Toss everything together until the sauce coats the noodles and the dish is heated through.
- Sprinkle with sliced green onions and stir to combine.
6. Serve
- Serve immediately as a main dish. Enjoy with extra soy sauce or chili flakes, if desired.
