- Zest of 1 lemon
- 2 Tbsp milk

Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a loaf pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract.
- Mix in basil, lemon zest, and milk.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth top. Sprinkle with optional basil sugar topping.
- Bake for 55–65 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire rack to cool completely.
