Description

Banana pudding is a classic Southern dessert made with layers of creamy vanilla pudding, sliced bananas, and vanilla wafers, all topped with whipped cream or meringue.


Ingredients

  • 3 cups cold milk
  • 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream

  • 45 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1 (12 oz) box vanilla wafers

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the instant pudding mix and cold milk until thickened, about 2 minutes.
  2. Stir in the sweetened condensed milk until well combined. Refrigerate for 5 minutes.
  3. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream with vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  4. Fold the whipped cream into the pudding mixture until smooth and fully incorporated.
  5. In a 9×13-inch dish or trifle bowl, layer vanilla wafers, banana slices, and pudding mixture. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, ending with pudding on top.
  6. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight for best flavor and texture.
  7. Top with additional whipped cream and crushed wafers before serving, if desired.
