Description

This Baked Cream Cheese Spaghetti Casserole is the ultimate comfort food! With layers of tender spaghetti, creamy cheese, savory meat sauce, and melted cheese on top, it’s a hearty, flavorful dish perfect for feeding a crowd or enjoying as leftovers.

Ingredients

Scale

For the casserole:

  • 12 oz (340 g) spaghetti
  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
  • 1/2 cup (120 g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) sour cream
  • 1/2 cup (120 g) ricotta or cottage cheese
  • 1 cup (100 g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For garnish:

  • Fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

1. Cook the spaghetti

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions. Drain, toss with olive oil, and set aside.

2. Prepare the meat sauce

  1. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Stir in the marinara sauce, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes, then remove from heat.

3. Make the creamy cheese mixture

  1. In a medium bowl, mix together the cream cheese, sour cream, ricotta (or cottage cheese), and half of the Parmesan cheese until smooth.

4. Assemble the casserole

  1. Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce in the bottom of a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Layer half of the cooked spaghetti on top of the sauce. Spread the creamy cheese mixture evenly over the spaghetti.
  3. Add the remaining spaghetti on top of the cheese layer, followed by the rest of the meat sauce.
  4. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and remaining Parmesan cheese evenly over the top.

5. Bake

  1. Cover the casserole with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  2. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10–15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

6. Serve

  • Let the casserole cool for 5–10 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley and enjoy!

Notes

  • Make-Ahead: Assemble the casserole up to 1 day in advance and refrigerate. Add 10 minutes to the baking time if baking from chilled.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
  • Variations: Swap ground beef with ground turkey or Italian sausage for a different flavor.
