Description

These Crispy Baked Chicken Wings are perfectly seasoned, oven-baked until golden and crispy, and coated in your favorite sauce! They’re healthier than fried wings and just as delicious—perfect for game day, parties, or a family dinner.

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Wings:

  • 2 lbs (900g) chicken wings (split into drumettes and flats)
  • 1 tbsp baking powder (NOT baking soda)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for spice)

For the Sauce (Optional):

  • 1/2 cup buffalo sauce (or barbecue, honey garlic, teriyaki, etc.)
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tbsp honey (optional, for sweetness)

Instructions

Step 1: Prep the Wings

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Pat chicken wings completely dry with paper towels. This helps them crisp up.
  3. In a large bowl, toss wings with baking powder, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, smoked paprika, onion powder, and cayenne (if using).

Step 2: Bake the Wings

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or place a wire rack over a baking sheet. Arrange wings in a single layer.
  2. Bake for 40-45 minutes, flipping halfway through, until crispy and golden brown.

Step 3: Coat in Sauce (Optional)

  1. While wings bake, mix buffalo sauce, melted butter, and honey in a bowl.
  2. Toss the baked wings in the sauce or serve it on the side for dipping.

Step 4: Serve & Enjoy

  1. Serve hot with ranch, blue cheese dressing, and celery sticks.

Notes

  • Extra Crispy Wings: Bake on a wire rack for even airflow.
  • No Baking Powder? Use cornstarch for a similar effect.
  • Air Fryer Version: Cook at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes, shaking halfway through.
  • Storage: Refrigerate leftovers for up to 3 days. Reheat in a 400°F oven for 10 minutes.
