Description
Baked Beans are a classic comfort food made with tender beans simmered in a sweet and smoky sauce. Perfect as a hearty side dish for BBQs, picnics, or any casual meal.

- 4 cups cooked navy beans (or 2 cans, drained and rinsed)
- 6 slices bacon, chopped
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons molasses
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook bacon until slightly crisp. Add onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- In a large bowl, combine ketchup, brown sugar, molasses, mustard, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Stir in the bacon and onion mixture, then fold in the beans.
- Transfer to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish or Dutch oven and cover with foil.
- Bake for 45 minutes, then uncover and bake an additional 15 minutes, or until thick and bubbly.
- Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a vegetarian version, omit bacon and sauté onions in olive oil.
- Great made a day ahead—flavors deepen as they sit.
- Use smoked paprika or chipotle for added depth.
