For the filling:
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- 1/2 cup (75 g) diced onion
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 tablespoon mustard
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 8 slices of cheddar cheese (cut into squares)
For the dough:
- 1 can (16 oz / 450 g) refrigerated biscuit dough (8 biscuits)
For assembly:
- 8 slices of bacon
- 1 large egg (beaten, for egg wash)
- Sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the filling:
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the ground beef and onion until the beef is browned and the onion is softened. Drain any excess grease.
- Stir in ketchup, mustard, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 2 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Assemble the bombs:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Flatten each biscuit into a 4-inch circle. Place a square of cheese in the center of each biscuit. Top with 2 tablespoons of the beef mixture and another square of cheese.
- Fold the edges of the biscuit dough over the filling, pinching to seal and form a ball.
- Wrap with bacon:
- Wrap each dough ball with a slice of bacon, securing it with a toothpick if necessary.
- Bake:
- Place the bacon-wrapped bombs on the prepared baking sheet. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the dough is golden and the bacon is crispy.
- Serve:
- Remove the bombs from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes before serving. Serve with ketchup, mustard, or your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- For added flavor, mix cooked crumbled bacon into the beef filling before assembling.
- Leftovers can be reheated in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10 minutes.
