Description

This Avocado, Mozzarella, and Tomato Grilled Cheese takes a classic sandwich to the next level. Creamy avocado, fresh mozzarella, and juicy tomatoes come together in a perfectly crispy, golden bread slice. A simple yet flavorful meal for lunch, dinner, or a quick snack.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 8 slices of bread (sourdough, multigrain, or your favorite type)
  • 4 tablespoons (60 g) butter, softened
  • 1 avocado, sliced or mashed
  • 2 medium tomatoes, thinly sliced
  • 8 oz (225 g) fresh mozzarella, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil or Italian seasoning (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the bread:
    • Butter one side of each slice of bread. Lay the slices buttered side down on a clean surface.
  2. Assemble the sandwiches:
    • Spread the avocado (sliced or mashed) evenly over half of the bread slices (unbuttered side).
    • Layer with fresh mozzarella slices and tomato slices. Sprinkle with a pinch of salt, pepper, and dried basil or Italian seasoning, if desired.
    • Top with the remaining bread slices, buttered side facing out.
  3. Cook the sandwiches:
    • Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on one side, or until golden brown and crispy.
    • Flip the sandwiches carefully and cook for another 3-4 minutes, pressing gently with a spatula to ensure even melting of the mozzarella.
  4. Serve:
    • Remove the sandwiches from the skillet, slice in half, and serve warm. Pair with a fresh green salad, soup, or enjoy on its own!

Notes

  • Additions: For extra flavor, add a drizzle of balsamic glaze or a handful of fresh basil leaves.
  • Customizations: Use whole wheat or gluten-free bread for dietary preferences.
  • Make it extra crispy: Toast the bread with a sprinkle of Parmesan on the buttered side before grilling.
