Description

Artisan Bread is a rustic, crusty loaf with a soft and chewy interior, made with simple ingredients and no kneading. Perfect for sandwiches, soups, or simply enjoyed with butter.


Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose or bread flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp instant yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (about 110°F)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and instant yeast.
  2. Add warm water and stir until a shaggy dough forms. The dough will be sticky and loose.
  3. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a damp towel and let it rise at room temperature for 12–18 hours, until doubled in size and bubbly.
  4. Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C). Place a Dutch oven (with lid) in the oven to preheat for 30 minutes.
  5. Turn the dough out onto a well-floured surface. Shape it into a ball using floured hands and let it rest while the Dutch oven heats.
  6. Carefully place the dough into the preheated Dutch oven. Cover with the lid and bake for 30 minutes.
  7. Remove the lid and bake for another 10–15 minutes until the crust is deep golden brown.
  8. Remove the bread and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes

  • Use parchment paper to easily transfer dough into the Dutch oven.
  • For added flavor, mix in herbs, olives, or cheese before the first rise.
  • Store leftovers at room temperature wrapped in a cloth for up to 2 days.
