Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Wonton Taco Shells:

  • 12 wonton wrappers
  • Cooking spray or oil for brushing

For the Chicken Filling:

  • 1 lb (450g) boneless, skinless chicken breasts, finely diced or ground chicken
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger

For the Slaw:

  • 1 cup (75g) shredded cabbage (red, green, or a mix)
  • 1/2 cup (50g) shredded carrots
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon soy sauce

For Garnish:

  • Sweet chili sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • Chopped green onions
  • Sesame seeds

Instructions

. Make the Wonton Taco Shells:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Lightly spray or brush both sides of the wonton wrappers with cooking spray or oil.
  3. Drape each wonton wrapper over the side of a muffin tin or over a taco rack to create a “taco shell” shape.
  4. Bake for 6-8 minutes or until golden and crisp. Let cool while you prepare the filling.

2. Cook the Chicken Filling:

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the diced or ground chicken until fully cooked, about 6-8 minutes.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, honey, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger.
  3. Pour the sauce over the chicken in the skillet and stir to coat. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly. Remove from heat.

3. Prepare the Slaw:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine shredded cabbage, carrots, rice vinegar, honey, sesame oil, and soy sauce. Toss until well mixed.

4. Assemble the Tacos:

  1. Fill each wonton shell with a spoonful of the chicken mixture.
  2. Top with the slaw.
  3. Drizzle with sweet chili sauce and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, add crispy wonton strips or chopped peanuts on top.
  • Leftovers should be stored separately to keep the wonton shells crispy.
  • Customize with additional toppings like cilantro or sriracha for heat.
