Description
These homemade Air Fryer Chicken Nuggets are juicy on the inside, crispy on the outside, and way better than fast food! Made with simple ingredients and cooked without oil, they’re a healthier option for kids and adults alike. Ready in just 20 minutes!
Ingredients
-
1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
-
1 cup buttermilk
-
1 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
-
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for extra flavor)
-
1 teaspoon garlic powder
-
1 teaspoon onion powder
-
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
-
Salt and pepper, to taste
-
Cooking spray or olive oil spray
Instructions
-
In a bowl, combine the chicken pieces and buttermilk. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes (or up to overnight in the fridge for extra tenderness).
-
In another bowl, mix breadcrumbs, Parmesan (if using), garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
-
Remove chicken from the buttermilk and coat each piece in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing lightly to help it stick.
-
Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3–5 minutes.
-
Lightly spray the air fryer basket with oil. Place the chicken nuggets in a single layer (work in batches if needed).
-
Spray the tops of the nuggets lightly with oil. Air fry for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden brown and cooked through (internal temp should be 165°F).
-
Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
-
For extra crunch, use panko breadcrumbs.
-
You can skip the buttermilk and use plain milk or a beaten egg if needed.
-
These nuggets freeze well – freeze before or after air frying for quick meals.
