Description

These air fryer apple hand pies are flaky, golden, and filled with warm cinnamon-spiced apples. Made with store-bought pie crust and a simple apple filling, they come together fast and cook up beautifully in the air fryer. Perfect for a cozy dessert or a sweet snack on the go!

Ingredients

  • 1 package refrigerated pie crusts (2 crusts), thawed

  • 1 1/2 cups peeled and diced apples (like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)

  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar

  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

  • Optional: powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar for topping

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix the apples, sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, flour, and lemon juice. Set aside.

  2. Roll out the pie crusts and cut into 4- to 5-inch circles using a cookie cutter or small bowl. Re-roll scraps to make more.

  3. Spoon about 1 to 1 1/2 tablespoons of apple filling onto the center of each circle.

  4. Fold over to form a half-moon shape and press edges together with a fork to seal.

  5. Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush the tops of the pies with the egg wash.

  6. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with oil or line it with parchment.

  7. Air fry in batches at 350°F (175°C) for 8–10 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp.

  8. Let cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar if desired.

Notes

  • Use canned apple pie filling for an even quicker version.

  • These are best served warm but can be reheated in the air fryer for 2–3 minutes.

  • Try switching out the apple filling for other fruits like peaches or cherries.
