Ingredients
Scale
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup granulated sugar (or powdered sugar for a softer texture)
2 cups all-purpose flour
Instructions
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Make the Dough:
In a mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
Gradually add the flour, mixing until a soft dough forms. If the dough is too crumbly, add 1-2 teaspoons of milk to help it come together.
Form the Cookies:
Scoop about 1 tablespoon of dough and roll into a ball. Place each ball on the prepared baking sheet about 2 inches apart. Use a fork to gently press down and create a crosshatch pattern on each cookie.
Bake:
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Serve:
Enjoy these simple butter cookies as-is, or dust with powdered sugar for a touch of sweetness.
Notes
Variations: For extra flavor, add a teaspoon of vanilla extract, a sprinkle of cinnamon, or dip the cookies in melted chocolate once cooled.
Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
